Local Area Information

Coast/Beaches

The North Cornwall coast has some spectacular beaches and coastal walks. Our nearest beach is Widemouth Bay, only 6 miles/10 minutes in the car. This long stretch of beach is famous for surfing, but is just as popular for rock pooling, kite flying and dog walking. Travel two miles north to Bude Bay, Summerleaze and Crooklets are the connecting beaches at Bude where you will also find the Bude harbour and canal, and a natural sea pool. The north coast has many magical coves such as Crackington Haven, Port Gaverne and Port Isaac.

Travel

A car is recommended for North Cornwall as public transport is limited. The Bude area is approximately one hour from the main cities of Plymouth, Exeter, Truro, Barnstaple and Newquay airport. The main bus service runs from Exeter to Bude every two hours, and there is a bus service from Plymouth via Launceston. Car hire is available from Newquay and Exeter airport.

Distances

Our nearest towns are Bude 8 miles, Launceston 11 miles and Holsworthy 11 miles, where you will find a variety of banks, independent shops, bars, cafes and restauarants. Bude, originally a Victorian coastal resort is well placed for holiday makers and surfers, whilst Launceston and Holsworthy are market towns. To the south, Boscastle, Crackington Haven, Port Isaac and the Camel cycle trail towards Padstow are all worth a visit. Try RHS Rosemoor at Torrington, and National Trust at Landhydrock, both 40 minutes by car.
